A New Start: What Jumpstart Refugee Talent and Being Canadian Mean to Me

Jumpstart Refugee Talent stands firmly against the recent surge in violence in Lebanon, Gaza, Sudan, and across the Middle East. We express our solidarity with those impacted by war and displacement, reaffirming our mission and core values to foster a more inclusive and prosperous global community that benefits from the talents and contributions of refugees. We are deeply saddened by the loss of innocent lives and the immense suffering inflicted upon civilians. Our hearts go out to all those affected, including our staff members in Lebanon and the families of the clients we support.

The current conflicts threaten to worsen the already precarious situation for vulnerable refugee populations. Furthermore, conflicts are displacing millions of citizens globally to flee conflict zones. This increased displacement could have far-reaching consequences for the region and further deteriorates the safety of vulnerable populations.

At Jumpstart Refugee Talent, we remain dedicated to accelerating job readiness for refugees, creating meaningful employment connections, facilitating mentorships, fostering entrepreneurship, and advancing economic mobility. While our work focuses on supporting displaced individuals, we emphasize that preventing displacement is paramount. We believe in building a world where people are not forced to flee their homes due to conflict or persecution.

We urge the international community to take immediate steps to de-escalate conflicts, protect civilian lives and infrastructure, provide humanitarian aid to those in need, prevent displacement of vulnerable populations, and work towards lasting peace in the region.

Jumpstart Refugee Talent remains steadfast in our mission to support refugees and advocate for their rights. We believe in the resilience and potential of displaced individuals and will continue to work tirelessly to create pathways for their success.

During these challenging times, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering refugee talent and acting where we can. We call on employers and partners to join us in creating opportunities for displaced individuals to rebuild their lives and contribute their skills to their new communities.
