About the Role
Jumpstart is looking for a dynamic and passionate Fund Development Manager to lead the planning and design phase of the world’s first refugee impact fund. This fund aims to support and provide capital to aspiring and existing refugee entrepreneurs and businesses.

The Fund Development Manager will collaborate closely with our Entrepreneurship Manager and Operations Director to build the necessary infrastructure and processes for the Fund. The Manager will be responsible for the activities below, directly delivering some while overseeing consultants for others.

Responsibilities: Capacity Building (Planning & Design)

  • Fund Strategy Development: Clearly define the fund’s investment thesis, target sectors, stages, and criteria aligned with organizational goals.
  • Process Design: Develop detailed processes for deal sourcing, evaluation, due diligence, investment approval, and documentation.
  • Investor Relations Framework: Create a robust framework for engaging current and potential investors, including comprehensive communication plans and reporting standards.
  • Fundraising Planning: Design a clear, actionable fundraising strategy, identify target investors, and develop persuasive fundraising materials.
  • Pipeline Creation: Establish initial relationships within the entrepreneurial ecosystem and devise a structured approach for consistently sourcing high-quality investment opportunities.
  • Compliance & Administration Setup: Set up administrative processes for fund operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and effective governance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field (required)
  • Master’s degree in Finance, MBA, CFA designation, or related advanced qualification (highly preferred)
  • Minimum 5-7 years experience in investment planning, venture capital, private equity, financial services, or fund development
  • Proven experience in fundraising, investor relations, and strategic planning
  • Knowledge of the Canadian investment landscape and regulatory requirements for fund operations,
  • Strong understanding of impact investing, debt financial structuring and blended finance models.
  • Excellent financial modeling, analytical, and strategic thinking skills
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder relationship management abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement complex processes
  • Familiarity with startup ecosystems, venture capital, and emerging industries
