About the Job
Jumpstart is looking to add a passionate senior member of our national team to spearhead the delivery of our national programming. We seek someone who desires to do innovative, ground-breaking work in a fast-paced, grassroots setting who sees opportunity in uncertainty. Our ideal candidate will be a highly experienced impact-driven, client-centric, and passionate self-starter with experience leading teams and managing programs.

Reporting to Jumpstart’s Director of Operations, the Senior Manager of Programs & Strategy will be responsible for overseeing program design, strategy and implementation and manage a staff of 5-10 to deliver employment programming to newly settled refugees. You will also build and maintain good working relationships with our network of stakeholders including but limited to some of Canada’s largest employers, settlement agencies, service providers, and academic partners.

About You:

  • A people manager with a proven track record in program/project delivery
  • Seasoned leader with 5+ years’ experience in a similar role

  • Capable of end-to-end program delivery (program design, delivery, evaluation, and reporting)

Detailed Roles and Responsibility:

Program Design [20%]

  • Focus on strategic planning and program design and work to continuously develop and evolve our programs through monitoring and evaluation
  • Develop new programs that align with existing programs, serve client needs, and make progress towards Jumpstart’s mission.
  • Collaborate with program delivery staff and Director of Operations to develop process design for programs across Jumpstart’s portfolio.
  • Devise evaluation strategies to monitor performance and determine the need for improvements

 Program Delivery [50 %]

  • Responsible to train and onboard new staff, interns, and volunteers
  • Responsible to supervise and coach 5-10 program delivery staff
  • Initiate and set goals for programs according to the strategic objectives of the organization
  • Oversee program delivery and ensure performance and quality assurance targets are being met.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and training to program staff, to ensure they understand our program delivery model, and what they are working towards.

Monitoring & Evaluation [15%]

  • Collect data and analyze qualitative and quantitative program outcomes.
  • Prepare monthly impact reports regarding program activities and outcomes, providing feedback to front-line staff regarding case notes and documentation to ensure adherence to best practices.
  • Develop set of best practices for new programs as informed by client feedback
  • Keep senior management informed with detailed reports and presentations
  • Coach and nurture staff to encourage the sharing of best practices, learning opportunities, and opportunities for growth

 Stakeholder Engagement [15%]

  • Engage corporate and community stakeholders and forge innovative partnerships
  • Support marketing and outreach efforts and grow Jumpstart’s visibility.
  • Represent Jumpstart at various external events and working groups

Nice to haves for our ideal candidate

  • Lived experience as a refugee or immigrant
  • Understanding of the economic barriers and challenges refugees face
  • Experience working with employers
  • Established network connections with refugee communities, employers, or settlement agencies
  • Experience working in grassroots or start-up organizations
  • Proficient with CRM systems such as Salesforce and other productivity technologies.

What we Offer

  • Position based in Toronto, combining virtual and in-office work environments
  • Full-time position with a competitive $60,000-80,000 annual salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

About the Job
Jumpstart is looking to add a member to our national team to support delivery of our national employment programming. Our ideal candidate will be a client-centric, passionate self-starter with experience delivering programs.

Reporting to Jumpstart’s Senior Manager of Programs  & Strategy, you will work out of our Vancouver office and be responsible for delivering programming to our refugee clients to improve their employability and support them in securing meaningful employment. This can include client intake interviews, resume building, mentorship, skills training, and employment support.

You will also maintain good working relationships with our network of stakeholders including but limited to some of Canada’s largest employers, settlement agencies, service providers, and academic partners.

Responsibilities Can Include:

  • Work closely with refugee clients to provide career-related programming support
  • Support outreach efforts to refugees and employers in the Vancouver Lower Mainland
  • Develop and implement strategies for recruitment and engaging Canadian professionals and refugee clients for mentorship matching opportunities
  • Follow up with clients, mentors, and employers to ensure program success
  • Support the delivery of events and workshops
  • Update client data in our Salesforce CRM and our internal talent platform  

 Required

  • Post-secondary education and 3+ years’ experience with a proven track record in a program/project management role
  • A passion for social impact!
  • A self-starter who requires minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Flexible schedule (some evenings and weekends may be required)

 Nice to Have

  • Lived experience as a refugee or immigrant

  • Background in Human Resources or Talent Acquisition
  • Experience working with employers

Canada Summer Jobs Program
