TAHMINA SALEEM
Program Specialist
Born in Kabul, Tahmina Saleem holds a BA in Graphics and an MA in Visual Arts from Kabul University. Tahmina worked as a Lecturer and an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Kabul University and as a Freelance Documentary Photographer, with a special focus on Afghan women. She is an alumna of the Sahar Speaks program, IVLP( International Visitor LeadershipProgram), and an advisory member of the Afghanistan Photographers Association. Tahmina participated in several exhibitions, such as “Violence Elimination against Women'' and “Women Empowerment” in Afghanistan. Her photo stories were exhibited in Germany, Iran, Canada, Italy, China, Afghanistan, and the United States. In 2015, her photo won a special prize in a contest which was held by Paiwandgah in the Afghan Impassion Organization. So far, her works are published on websites like The Guardian, The Huffington Post, News Deeply, Photo Journal, and Yoga Journal. Moreover, she served as a panel of jury at the UNDP photo contest on SDGs. She was among five more artists from around the world that was awarded a fellowship from URevolution Lifestyle Magazine in 2018. Recently, she was awarded a fellowship from Too Young To Wed, Canon, and IWMF. In this fellowship. Now she is based in Toronto, Canada. Tahmina also served as a member of the Afghan national chess team.
