Born in Kabul, Tahmina Saleem holds a BA in Graphics and an MA in Visual Arts from Kabul University. She has studied photography and contemporary arts academically and has actively participated in many exhibitions such as “Violence elimination against women” and “Women Empowerment”. In 2015 she won a special prize in a contest which was held by Paiwandgah, an Afghan Impassion Organization, which many Afghan photographers participated. About the Picture: An afghan model is wearing afghani clothes in celebration of Nowruz ( New Year).Nowruz is a traditional ceremony in Afghanistan and all Persian countries in the world. Nowruz means new day and it is the first day of spring. This photo was taken in Paghman Palace, in this event models were showing afghani clothes, dance teams were dancing Attan ( Afghan local dance), they were serving afghani dry fruit. Nowruz is concoides with 21 March.
